One Book, One Community is a three-year-old Center initiative that promotes literacy and the importance of stories and communication among South Floridians by encouraging everyone to read and talk about the same book. In prior years the Center has recommended The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines, Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat, the graphic novel Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi and Tourist Season by Carl Hiaasen.
