Writing Memoir

Meets daily, Wednesday, May 6 - Saturday, May 9 | 9 a.m. - noon

Esmeralda Santiago will guide participants in the art of memoir writing. She will discuss structure, how to be your own editor, how to find your authentic voice and how to cultivate the discipline to be a writer. Be ready to write and share your stories every day of the sessions. The participants’ works will shape the dialogue. Limited to 15 students.

Facilitator
Esmeralda Santiago is the author of several memoirs, including El Amante Turco/The Turkish Lover, When I was Puerto Rican and Almost a Woman. Her essays have appeared in numerous national newspapers and magazines and as guest commentary on NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition. She is also the author of a novel, América’s Dream, an Alternate Selection of the Literary Guild, and a children’s book, A Doll for Navidades.
