In fiction, facts are necessary to create a believable universe. In nonfiction, missing facts or lack of detail can sink a story, or your reputation. For both you need “real, multidimensional char-acters.” Learn old-school journalistic and private eye techniques, including observation, interviewing, how to investigate using government and other sources, and what works and doesn’t on the web. Pain & Gain will be a case study.

Pain & Gain - Part 1
Pain & Gain - Part 2
Pain & Gain - Part 3

GUEST SPEAKER: Ed Du Bois, the Miami Private Investigator who single-handedly figured out the gym scam featured in Pain & Gain, will be a guest speaker during the workshop.

Facilitator
As a paperboy, Pete Collins delivered The Miami News; two decades later he was a reporter on their city desk, and continued his journalism career at The Miami Herald and the Miami New Times. His investigative reports about Miami con men appeared on 60 Minutes. Pain & Gain, about a gang of criminals working out of a Miami gym, was bought by Paramount Studios.
