Intro to Fiction: From Inspiration to the Page and Beyond

The workshop will focus on a variety of writing strategies, including but not limited to crafting character, tone, point of view, setting, plot, and dialogue. In the workshop, students will complete various in-class writing exercises, often using published works as models and springboards for discussion.
The instructors will provide individual critiques of student work. In addition, students will have the opportunity to share and read aloud from writing produced during the workshop. Limited to 15 students.
Facilitators
T Cooper is the author of the bestselling novels Lipshitz Six—or—Two Angry Blondes and Some of the Parts and editor of the politically-minded anthology of stories entitled A Fictional History of the United States with Huge Chunks Missing. Her writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The New York Times Style Magazine, Poets & Writers, and other anthologies. T holds an MFA from Columbia University.
Felicia Luna Lemus is the author of the novels Like Son and Trace Elements of Random Tea Parties. Her writing has appeared in numerous anthologies and in magazines including Latina and BOMB. She has taught fiction writing at universities, including The New School and U.C.L.A.
