With the advent of new social media tools, more and more people are participating in the conversation online. This class will cover the technical and marketing aspects of launching yourself or your business online through a blog, Twitter, and related social tools. The class is highly participatory; between the weekly scheduled class meetings, this course’s discussion continues in a variety of online environments. Those who complete this course will know how to use blogs, tags, social networks, Twitter, and Flickr productively.

Alex is a hands-on social networking phenomenon based in Miami, Florida. He is the co-founder of StartPR, an online tracking service for reputation management, blogger relations, and brand monitoring. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Miami, School of Communications, where he teaches a class on social media. He organizes Social Media Club, BarCamp, Mobile Monday, and RefreshMiami meet ups and conferences for South Florida new media professionals. Alex obtained an MBA from Insead in Fontainebleau, France. He speaks English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Finnish.
