This poetry workshop will focus on finding voice through language, metaphor, and crafting place and revising work to strengthen it for the purpose of publication. Though we will examine the work of published poets, the focus of this workshop will be the work of the participants who will be asked to generate poems (or revise old ones), which will be discussed in a supportive environment. Poems will be read out loud then carefully examined, paying close attention to imagery, metaphor and language. Participants should be willing to revise and give and receive constructive criticism. All workshop participants should bring copies of their poems to each session.

Limited to 15 participants.

Sandra M. Castillo’s poems have previously appeared in Nimrod, Lake Effect, The Florida Review, The Southeast Review, Borderlands, The Texas Review, Gulf Stream and Runes, as well as in various anthologies.   Her poetry collection is entitled My Father Sings to my Embarrassment.
